Distance Reiki(How It Works)

How Reiki reaches you wherever you are, and the ways to receive it from me.

What is distance Reiki?

How does distance Reiki work?

Distance Reiki works through three things together, and the first one matters most: an attuned practitioner, the distance symbol, and intention.

An attuned practitioner. Reiki is passed from teacher to student through attunements, and it is the attunement that prepares someone to be the bridge for Reiki. The practitioner is the one who holds the frequency and knows how Reiki moves. Attunements are valid whether they are received in person or online, and what matters is that they come from a teacher in a real lineage, one the practitioner can name.

The distance symbol. At Reiki II, an attuned practitioner is attuned to the distance symbol, Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen. Think of it as a key. It allows the practitioner's mind to connect to the distance aspect, so that Reiki can reach someone who isn't in the room. The symbol isn't the source of Reiki and doesn't create the connection by itself. The practitioner does the holding, and the symbol is the key that opens the way.

Intention. The practitioner holds their focus on the person receiving, and that focused attention is what the Reiki travels along.

How the symbols work is something students learn in depth in Reiki I & II. If you're curious, I teach it in Sovereign Light, and you can read a little more on my Reiki symbols page.

How I understand it

I have a long-standing interest in quantum physics, and this is how I personally make sense of it. In my own view, when a practitioner is focused on one person, something like quantum entanglement is at play, and the observer effect, the way attention seems to shape what is observed, fits what I experience in the work. It is a lens I find useful, and I offer it as my own understanding. I'm not claiming it is established science. Reiki doesn't need that explanation to be Reiki.

Distance doesn't change the way I hold the work. I'm there as a vessel, I allow Reiki to flow, and it goes where it is needed in the amount you are able to receive. I don't direct it and I don't hold an outcome.

Is online Reiki real Reiki?

Yes, when it comes from an attuned practitioner. Distance Reiki is a part of the Usui Shiki Ryoho training itself. It is taught at Reiki II, so a practitioner offering it is doing something they were specifically trained and attuned to do. My line is laid out name by name on my lineage page.

If you are looking at any distance Reiki practitioner, in any tradition, it is fair to ask who attuned them and who attuned their teacher. A practitioner in a real lineage can tell you.

Many people find a remote session easier, since they can rest in their own bed, chair or favorite corner without traveling anywhere. What you notice, if anything, is yours to judge, and no specific outcome is promised.

Ways to receive distance Reiki from me

I offer three ways, from free to fully personal. Choose whichever fits where you are.

You can see everything I offer, including recorded activations, in my store.

What to expect in a live session

Here is how a one-on-one Zoom session usually flows.

• A welcome and a brief introduction, so you feel settled.
• You center, and I guide you to call your energy back to you.
• We call in any allies you would like with you. These can be whatever supports you, and they help bring their frequencies into the session.
• The main part of the session, where I move through the Usui hand positions from head down to foot.
• You visualize turning over, and I work your back, so you are supported on both sides. In the Usui tradition, caring for both sides of the body matters.
• The verbal Reiki portion, which you also receive afterward as a recording set to music.

The hand positions aren't what directs the Reiki. They give both of us a sense of where the session is, and when you turn over, you know you are in the second half. You stay fully clothed and rest. There is nothing to perform.

How the verbal Reiki works

Verbal Reiki is where I use my voice alongside the Reiki. The words I choose, the frequency of my voice, and the way your body responds to the guidance all play a part, which is why it travels so well across distance and why a recording can be encoded with it.

I also draw on subconscious work, mental reframing and somatic work to support the Reiki. If you'd like the full picture of how it differs from a traditional activation, I wrote about it in Reiki Activation vs. Verbal Reiki: What’s the Difference?

These are supportive practices, not therapy or medical treatment.

How much does distance Reiki cost?

It depends on the way you receive it. My YouTube activations are free. A custom frequency drop is $111, and a live one-on-one Zoom session is $222. Distance Reiki from other practitioners varies widely, so it is reasonable to ask what is included before you book anything.

Prices are current as of this writing. The offer pages above always show what is true today.
